Sundown Rundown – November 2019

ezgif.com-crop

Hey there, book-lovers.

It’s the end of November and that means it’s time to look back on what I’ve read this month. There have been some doozies for sure, and by that, I mean some big reads. So, I didn’t get as many done as I’d hoped, but I did get to some of the ones I really wanted to. A pro and a con!

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, Christmas is well on its way. Before we can get to December, here’s a chance to see what I’ve read this month and catch up on the reviews you might’ve missed.

Scarlet Reader

Wolves of Calla

Scarlet Reader

Amazon

Stargazing at Noon

Author: Amanda Torroni

Lost in the universe of stars, space, and love and heartache.

House of Hades - Goodreads

The House of Hades

Author: Rick Riordan

Officially and truly friends, at last, demigods of both the Greek and Romans gods must work together to close the doors of the Underworld to keep monsters from leaving the dark depths.

Favorite Book: Stargazing at Noon was unbelievable gorgeous, picturesque, and stunning. Descriptive and breathtaking words. Just swept me away and I’m all right with that.

Least Favorite Book: Wolves of Calla was good, but it felt extremely drawn out. Sometimes a story takes patience, but I wasn’t feeling it this time. I still look forward to the next book in the series.

More to come soon…

Sundown Rundown – September 2019

ezgif.com-crop

Hey there, book addicts!

I hope everyone is doing well. September has been a long and stressful month. I don’t know about anyone else, but I for one and glad it’s about to be October. You know what that means. It’s time to get spooky!!! WOO!

I know the sun has been started setting sooner and sooner lately. The leaves are turning such beautiful colors as they morbidly die. Pumpkins and scarecrows are shining on as Halloween comes rolling around.

Enjoy the sunset of Fall. It’s more orange and lights the sky on fire. It’s the twilight of the year. Enjoy some cider or maybe a deep red wine or some Hot cocoa as you get cuddly and catch up on what you might’ve missed on my blog.

Here’s the Sundown Rundown. Everything I’ve read this month and an opportunity for you to catch up on any reviews you might’ve missed.

The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus #1)

Author: Rick Riordan

A new journey begins for a group of Demigods. A Demigod has memory loss. Monsters keep rising from Tartarus. A Goddess is imprisoned and on the brink of losing her powers.

Favorite book: The Lost Hero was a blast! I’m so excited to jump back into the world of Riordan. New heroes as well as some old heroes. And a brand-new prophecy about saving not only the world but the gods!

Least favorite book: Night Shift was such a letdown for a variety of reasons. I’m still a little sore about it. The first two were so great and I was just disappointed with this one.

Sundown Rundown – August 2019

Hey there booknerds!

At this moment, you’re probably relaxing after having dinner and enjoying a glass of wine or possibly something non-alcoholic. Whatever suits your fancy while you kick back and watch the sunset. The beautiful in-between of day into night. While you’re doing that you can kick back and catch up on what you might’ve missed this month on The Scarlet Reader.

It was a long month for August! So much has happened and so much has been read! I’m actually pretty proud of my reading. Not a slump for me! Six books! Woohoo!

Aside from having an accomplished reading month, I also got to go see Kansas in concert. They were fantastic. Such a fun time. The band was lively and it was a beautiful day. Mom also had her neck surgery. It was very successful and she’d on the mend! It was a surgery to help with pain and strange numbness and it’s taken years to get it. I’m glad she’ll finally be able to be more pain-free. After seven years or so of it, she deserves it.

Now, there are a couple of books that I wish I could’ve gotten to, but there’s always next month! Catch up on the reviews you might’ve missed this month!

Scarlet Reader

Amazon

Dreamfall (Dreamfall #1)

Author: Amy Plume

Dreams can kill. Everybody knows that. An experiment will bring them to horrifying life for seven teens that only wanted to cure their sleep disorders.

Scarlet Reader

Lothaire (Dark Immortals #12)

Author: Kresley Cole

This vampire wants her body, soul, and the demon goddess possessing her.

Scarlet Reader

Goodreads

Day Shift (Midnight Texas #2)

Author: Charliane Harris

The resident psychic and hardcore assassin team up together to solve the murder of a wealthy woman before the secrets of Midnight come out of the woodwork.

Scarlet Reader

Goodreads

Zom-B: Angels

Author: Darren Shan

B discover the Angels, a group of reviveds set out to fight evil. B must make a choice. Join them? Or run.

Favorite Book: Midnight Crossroad was light and fun. The supernatural element was so subtle and natural. Just a splendid read.

Least Favorite Book: Lothaire pushed in a direction that isn’t my favorite. I enjoy smut and the supernatural genre, but I don’t enjoy coercion. Being forceful isn’t attractive nor is getting so nasty that it’s toxic and disturbing. Just not for me. I still love Kresley Cole to pieces and can’t wait for the release of From the Grave (Arcana Chronicles #6).

Sundown Rundown – May 2019

It’s the end of May already!? Wow. You know what that means, right? IT’S SUMMER!!!!! Time to let that sunshine caress those cheeks. (And maybe I’m still a little early on this, but I don’t care!)

Scarlet Reader

The sun is now going down closer to 9PM and the air smells amazing. The breeze is a-blowing all soft like. I love sunsets like this. It feels like time slows down for a little while and I can actually breathe. That feeling is so beautiful.

So, while the sun is doing that gorgeous thing and lighting the sky on fire, relax. It’s the end of the day, and you’re just done with everything.

This is the sundown Rundown where I catch you up on everything I’ve reviewed this month. It’s the perfect time to catch up on any you might have missed.

Daughter of Egypt
Author: Constance O’Banyon

Being the lost princess of an empire would usually be exciting. Not for this princess. After she’s kidnapped and told she’s a lost princess, she’ll do whatever she can to escape.

Scarlet Reader

Amazon

Wicked
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Fae, beignets, and the occasional life or death situation when trying to protect New Orleans from Armageddon. Then there’s the green-eyed sweet-talker that shakes things up.

Scarlet Reader

Quirk Books

William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Mean Girls
Author: Ian Doescher

Mean Girls comes to you in words of Avon Bard and it’s even better than you think and even more hilarious.

Scarlet Reader

Goodreads

Torn
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

The fae are still looking to take over the world, but now they may have what they need: a halfling. Stunning and shocking book 2 of the Wicked trilogy.

Favorite book this month: Such difficult choices! Gah! If I have to choose, Wicked is my favorite this month. It has everything I love. The paranormal, romance, steamy and jaw-dropping lines, and of course the possible end of the world. Oh! And it takes place in New Orleans!

Least favorite book this month: This one is also tricky. Going to go with Half Bad. While After infuriated me so much, Half Bad didn’t evoke anything out of me. It’s never any good when a book does nothing for you. No excitement or yearning for more. It just came out bland for me which is a real stinker.
