Hello, Booklovers!

Okay, so this is a quick post. More of an update, and I’m a big believer in updating folks on changes. It’s nothing major. Just, if you’ve saved my site or anything of the such (which you probably haven’t. No big! Just in case) I have changed the site name and domain to more align with my blog! Also, my username as well.

If nothing’s changed for then beautiful! No worries! Like I said, because I’m paranoid, and I love you all, I made minor changes.

See? Quick post. Still The Scarlet Reader here.

Scarlet Reader

Author: Elizabeth Chandler

It’s been a year since her boyfriend, Tristan died. Ivy has moved on and is doing better and hopes is afterlife is going well too. But, then she died and Tristan must protect her from whatever is after her.

Favorite Book: Game of Thrones was so good even after having seen the show so many times! I really enjoyed it, was completely enthralled and look forward to reading the rest of the novels!

Least Favorite Book: Evercrossed was a wreck; take the pun or leave it. I thought the Kissed By An Angel series would continue on with its wispy storytelling, with new material and such but it plummeted backwards and just disappointed me in the end.

So my goal didn’t pan out as I hoped thanks to the many issues I had this month (the explanation can be found on SP – Feb. 25th). BUT! March is coming and I’m so excited on what I have planned to read!

Sundown Rundown – January 2019

Hello, my epic book nerds.

I hope January has given you a great start to 2019! If not, then I hope it gets good soon.

Get snuggled in real nice because it is REALLY cold outside. In the negatives. Or at least it is for me. However, the sunset is fiery orange and is making the snow sparkle. With that pretty visual, here’s what I reviewed this month. If you missed out on any, now is a great time to catch up.

Scarlet Reader - Shadow of the Moon

Princess Diarist - goodreads

Princess Diarist

Author: Carrie Fisher

The story every Star Wars fan has been waiting for. The story from the princess and, rebel leader, herself. Every page is filled with Fisher’s own personal brand of wit, humor, and style.

Scarlet Reader - Traveling Vampire Show

The Traveling Vampire Show

Author: Richard Laymon

A hot summer day and three teenagers are determined to go see the traveling vampire show that just arrived in town. But after weird and frightening things keep happening to them, they’re not entirely sure they want to go. When they do, they wish they hadn’t.

Author: Alice Reeds

With no memory of how they crash-landed onto a mysterious island, Miles and Fiona work together to try to survive, but they’re not as alone as they think they are on the island. More so, it doesn’t want them to leave.

Favorite Book: Princess Diarist really skyrocketed to the top for me this month. I’m such a fan of Carrie Fisher and love her bluntness and honesty. Also, being a Star Wars fan, I couldn’t wait to finally read this! With actual blerbs and poetry from her journal from her times on the set of the great space adventure that the fans love.

Least Favorite Book: Shadow of the Moon made me really uncomfortable because it felt forced with no real flow. I didn’t like the characters either. I couldn’t feel any chemistry. Details were too lacking to pull me into the story. All in all, this book was just not for me. Everything rubbed me wrong about it.

I didn’t get to as many books as I was hoping, but I’m hoping to With January wrapped up, we now move on to February.

Author: Elizabeth Chandler

Tristan and Ivy have a powerful love. The kid that last beyond forever, but then Tristan dies in a car accident. Ivy is utterly lost. Tristan has come back as angel with one mission. Protect her at any cost, even if that means letting her go.

Favorite Book: Caraval was by far my favorite my and definitely sits up on my favorites shelf. I was completely hypnotized by everything in this book. It was just so beautifully written, so vibrant, and completely enthralling. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Legendary.

Least Favorite Book: Something Strange and Deadly fell so much farther than I thought it would’ve. I didn’t have many expectations from it, but I thought it would’ve been better than it was. I like zombies and necromancy. They’re interesting subjects, but this book was too vague and repetitive on it. I just wasn’t into this one.

So, that’s it. I hope you all have had a good December and a spectacular year. See you in the new year!!

Sundown Rundown – October 2018

It is a glorious day for spooks, scares, and treats! Whether you’re dressing up, gorging on surgary goodness, watching scary movies, going out and TPing houses, or any number of fun things, enjoy the holiday. I know it’s my ultimate favorite.

I know this year I got pretty literary and dressed up as my favorite William Shakespeare character. From A Midsummer Night’s Dream, I give you, Robin Goodfellow. A Puck.

Halloween—All Hallows Eve—Samhain.

It has many many names and derives from the ancient Celtic festival from some 2,000 years ago. Imagine that, one of the most beloved holidays in which we celebrate letting our freak-flag fly and embrace the supernatural more than ever originates in Ireland. It’s also considered the time when the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest. It’s such a special time in my opinion that we are open to anything and while that can be scary, it can be pretty awesome.

Just remember to be safe folks.

Scarlet Reader - Gifer

My reading this month has been off and on honestly. I got out a couple of really fun book tags and reviews. If you happened to miss a few reviews then get ready, here’s everything I’ve read this month.

Ragwitch - The Scarlet Reader

The Ragwitch

Author: Garth Nix

Favorite Book of the Month: Ender’s Game was AMAZING! Sci-Fi reaches new heights. Now, I know this has been out for a few decades, but still. This book blew my mind with its plot and shocking reveals. So original and intense and an emotion bender.

Least Favorite Book of the Month: Heart of Darkness was not as appealing as I hoped it would be. The darkness that dwells within man is complex and always intriguing, but reading it in this way really wore me down. I couldn’t keep with it that well.
