Speedy Quote Sunday

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hey, book delinquents!

This is the Speedy Quote Sunday where I take up five minutes of your day and share a couple of my favorites quotes from books I’ve read.

“Lightning, like love, is never ruled by logic. Accidents happen and they always will.” (Practical Magic, Alice Hoffman)

Alice Hoffman’s words alone are magic. I’m always a sigh away with her. She’s just wistful and it’s takes nothing but the softest of breezes to sweep me away. Lightning, love, beautiful. to define love as lightning in how it strikes the same spot only once and how it is always accidental and unexpected is perfect.

“A witch shouldn’t keep secrets from other witches. Bad things happen when she does.” (A Discovery of Witches, Deborah Harkness)

Sometimes it’s not lingering inspirations that gets to me with a quote. It’s the power of the moment. This one gave me some seriously ominous goosebumps and shivers. So amazing when a book does that!

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hey there, bookworms!

This is the Speedy Quote Sunday! I feel like the title is self-explanatory, but just in case, here are a couple of quotes I rather like from books I’ve read. Here, I thought I’d share them briefly because sometimes there are those quotes in a book that prick you like a thorn.

“That’s how it goes, you think you’re on top of the world, and suddenly they spring Armageddon on you.” (Good Omens, Neil Gaiman)

Isn’t that how it always goes? There’s always an apocalypse around the corner. LOL.

“Most of us can be counted on to manage our own undoings.” (A Wild Swan: And Other Tales, Michael Cunningham)

This one is pretty relatable. We’re all capable of being our own worst enemy and need no one’s help. Just a dash of overthinking and assumption and we’re there.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hey there, book crawlers!

It’s Sunday and that means it’s time for Speedy Quote Sunday! Here are a couple quotes that I really love and really struck me when reading the books.

“It’s not magic that makes you who you are. It’s the choices that you make. Look at Dorothy.” (Dorothy Must Die, Danielle Paige)

“Love isn’t obvious until you’re in it. It’s not a punch in the face that leaves you reeling, Love is gradual and sneaky. It grows like weeds between the cracks of a hundred average moments.” (The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried, Shaun David Hutchinson)

Sometimes when reading I get really stunned, like getting struck by lightning, when reading certain lines. Don’t we all, because of how they impact and relate to our own lives? It’s like getting advice and inspiration and I can never get enough of either. It’s beautiful and artful.

Magic and love. You’d swear they were nearly the same sometimes. Both can be scary and yet also breathtaking. It’s why I love these quotes. Paige is blunt and to the point. Hutchinson really nails you with a flawless punch to the heart.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hello, bookworms galore!

I know! I KNOW! You don’t have to tell me. I said I would get Speedy Quote Sunday back up and running months ago. Since it is the new year I am officially getting back on track with it, posting every other Sunday! Woohoo!

With Speedy Quote Sundays I like to pick a few quotes from books that really touched me and reached out to me in some way and share them. Sometimes an author really strikes you with their words. So, here are a couple of quotes that I really like.

“Those who know what it’s like in the dark will do anything to stay in the light.” (King’s Cage, Victoria Aveyard)

“Desperation and fear could make anyone do nearly anything, and sometimes a single sacrifice was necessary to save many.” (The Last Magician, Lisa Maxwell)

Both of these books really dug into me deeply. There were major emotions, especially those that include sobbing and desperation during dark times. Both books are amazing and I definitely recommend them.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hey there you beautiful booksters you!

So, I’ve been TOTALLY slacking on the Speedy Quote Sunday and for that, I’m terribly sorry. I love doing this every other Sunday. It’s so much fun to share some of my most favorite book quotes.

Some book quotes just stick out to you whether they strike you in the heart, make you laugh, or just leave you inspired.

“Choose me. Choose the dawn.” (King’s Cage, Victoria Aveyard)

The moment I read this line my heart plummeted. So short, but so powerful. And some mega Grey’s Anatomy feels coming out of it too.

“I thought the food at college would be more edible than in our high school cafeteria, but apparently I was wrong.” (The Vampire Diaries: The Hunters Vol. 2 – Moonsong, L. J. Smith)

I loved this one because it was hilarious. This is always the number one mistake college Freshmen make.

“It’s amazing the difference
A bit of sky can make.”

(Where the Sidewalk Ends, Shel Silverstein)

Who says a poem can’t be one of the most epic quotes too? This is like that beautiful dab of happiness and quirk that’ll always make you hopeful and always make you smile.

Lovers of books!

First off, I’m so sorry for my lateness with Speedy Quote Sunday. There was a tech issue and it didn’t publish. If you thought it did earlier today, well, it screwed up. I apologize, guys.

So I have some great quotes from books that make me happy and I enjoy them.

“Being a doll is an odd thing. I spend more time on the shelf than at play.” (King’s Cage, Victoria Aveyard)

The description used really made me shudder with some creeps. Dolls can be creepy. But this was also a perfect way to describe feeling useless, fragile, and thrown away.

“There is no shame in fear, my father told me, what matters is how we face it.” (A Clash of Kings, George R. R. Martin)

Very true! Fear is sticky business and to be afraid of things is natural. Facing those things is more terrifying, but such an adrenaline rush!

“If I’m going to die, I’d like to actually live first. And then I’ll die.” (Five Feet Apart, Rachael Lippincott)

This. So important! We’ll all die someday, but don’t forget to live!

NOTE!! READ!!

Hello, Booklovers!

Okay, so this is a quick post. More of an update, and I’m a big believer in updating folks on changes. It’s nothing major. Just, if you’ve saved my site or anything of the such (which you probably haven’t. No big! Just in case) I have changed the site name and domain to more align with my blog! Also, my username as well.

If nothing’s changed for then beautiful! No worries! Like I said, because I’m paranoid, and I love you all, I made minor changes.

See? Quick post. Still The Scarlet Reader here.
