Hyped for Halloween Book Tag

Hey there, book cult!

Halloween is almost here! So, in the spirit, I’ve found a book tag inspired by Modern Witch’s Bookshelf. Let’s get our spookeh on!🎃

And, if you’re feeling the spook than go ahead and fill this out yourself!

What book gave you the creeps?

The Girls
Author: Emma Cline
Goodreads

Really REALLY good and I love a good cult. They’re fascinating on a psychological level, but this book gave me some serious heebie-jeebies.

What book gave you the best Halloween vibes?

What Big Teeth
Author: Rose Szabo
Goodreads

I haven’t read it just yet, but I did get to the blurb and it’s totally on my Hallow-read list.

A favorite vampire book?

The Morganville Vampires
Author: Rachel Caine
Travel Bookworm

Did you think I was going to choose something else? LOL. No. Still hyping this series. I’m telling you, it’s worth it.

A favorite ghost-y/demon book?

The Merciless
Author: Danielle Vega
Under The Book Cover

I finished the second book recently and it was wild. Was totally hooked. There’s something dark and malicious around every corner and not even the powers at be were helping. Bega is a mastermind at keeping the attention of her readers and really captures the right angles of horror.

What book scared you so much you had to sleep with the light on?

House of Leaves
Author: Mark Z. Danielewski
Barnes & Noble

This book unnerved me on so many levels. Creepy as hell. Nothing like finding a way to make the dark seem even scarier, especially when it grows and growls and tries to consume you. Made me question what goes bump in the dark just a bit more than I already do.

A favorite book involving witches?

Practical Magic
Author: Alice Hoffman

Some of the best books I’ve ever read. Beautiful from cover to the end. Sentimental, romantic, family, and magic. Such wonderful storytelling that left me in my heart and emotions.

A book you wish was scarier than it was.

Escape Room
Author: Maren Stoffels
Penguin Random House

I figured this would take escape rooms to a horror level and it just didn’t do it for me. It was all over the place and obvious. Unfortunate.

A book that takes place in October.

The Unleashed
Author: Danielle Vega
Penguin Teen

I loved that this ghost story continued and went into spooky season. There’s so much I love about this series. I wish there was more. More ghostiness, spookiness, and more of these characters. This series encompassed Halloween and gave a spark of life back to hauntings and ghosts.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

More to come soon…

-K.
