Speedy Quote Sunday

Hey there, book dominators!

Hope you guys are doing well! Every other week I post a couple of quotes that are meaningful from books I’ve read, enjoyed, and possibly not enjoyed. But I also loved doing this because it gets me thinking. All authors bring something-a piece of themselves-into their books and sometimes it really stands out. Whether it’s a throat-punch to my feelings or a gut-busting laugh, it struck me with importance. We all have favorite lines like that. In sharing them, maybe it’ll strike you a certain way or strike up a debate. Maybe it’ll get you adding these books to your TBR. Here are a couple for me.

“Make no mistake, I know I don’t have to prove a single thing to them. What matters most is what I prove to myself. Giving up would be an insult to everything I know I’m capable of. And I’ve already come this far.” (Where Dreams Descend, Janelle Angeles)

Grave and powerful, this one really stuck with me. Filled with confidence and determination, this is definitely one that encourages you to draw on the strength within and is a great reminder to never give up regardless of what others say.

“Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of ‘not knowing.” (House of Leaves, Mark Z. Danielewski)

I guess that means we’ll all lack some maturity because it’s a sure thing that nobody accepts the idea of not knowing. In one aspect or another, it’s true. There are things out there we’ll feel we have to know. It is what it is.

More to come soon…
