The Supernatural Book Tag

Supernatural via Books and Chill

Hello, precious book cult,

Carry on, my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more

This month, in honor of Supernatural’s final season and episode, which aired just one week ago, I’ve decided to do a SPN book tag. Now, I have taken this from Books and Chill and added a few extras of my own. I’m still a bit weepy and sad that Supernatural is over. The ending was very beautiful and a fantastic tribute to the Winchesters.

I was fourteen when the series started and am now 29. The show was a massive part of my life and even picked me up when my days were so dark I could barely see. I have such a strong appreciation for this show and all of those who’ve worked on it. Just ta massive thank you.

Now, on with the tag!

The Colt: If you could own a fictional item, what would you choose?

This one is tricky! Everybody I know would choose a wand from Harry Potter, and that’s understandable. I get it. “Yer a wizard…” It sticks and is badass. LOL. For me, I’m picking Selena’s bow, The Moon herself of the major Arcana from The Arcana Chronicles. That is a badass weapon that never misses its mark. Maybe it doesn’t seem so great to some but I find it incredibly lethal and beautiful. Plus, I’m a sucker for a good end of the world, which means I’d also want to be prepared for it.

The Impala: If you could own a fictional vehicle what would you choose?

So, I’ve never really thought about the transportation within books. It was more of following the character and the journey, but I LOVE Eve Rosser’s hearse in The Morganville Vampires. Of course, I could probably never drive the monster, hitching a ride would be epic.

Crowley: A villain you love to hate.

I have a list, though small, around here somewhere of those. LOL. Hmmm. I had to think about this one long and hard. Definitely going with Roth, the Prince of Darkness himself out of JLA’s The Harbinger series. He never lets you assume he’s good because he’s not, but he has entertaining and almost kind moments. He does give me Crowley vibes. Totally appreciate and have a minor crush on Roth.

Sam and Dean: Two characters from different books that’d make a perfect team to fight with.

TV Tyrant

From two different books but from the same author: Rachel Caine. Claire Danvers of The Morganville Vampires and Jess Brightwell of The Great Library are incredibly brilliant and would be an unstoppable duo if slammed together.

Dean and Cas: Two characters from different books that’d make a perfect couple.

We Heart It

This was difficult because I was determined to figure out an actual decent and unique coupling that wasn’t extremely farfetched. Also, it’s not easy when your characters are already with their soulmate. Still, thinking about it, I Was drawn back to Eve and her sarcastic, goth princess, witty and strong attitude and how open she is and then thought about the reclusive, gruff and broody Ravus of Valiant by Holly Black. It’s a strange coupling but the more I thought about it the more I’d be really into seeing the two of them at least meet. Such contrasting personalities but Eve can take anything thrown her way and an outcast fae would entrance her. For Ravus, he’s never come up against anything like Eve.

Bobby: Your favorite fictional mentor-figure.

Roland of The Dark Tower series has the qualities of a mentor in the sense that not only does he have so much he can share and teach but also the capacity to learn new things as well.

No man sees all … but … you’ll see more … than some men see in a lifetime.”

– The Drawing of the Three

Jo and Ellen: Your favorite family bond.

I fell in love with Mare Barrow and her brother Shade that I was in tears when it shattered. Just not okay. My heart wrenches because they were so close and as quickly as she got him back she lost him.

Kevin: Your favorite nerdy character.

Can the real Claire Danvers please stand up? LOL. Legit the nerdiest of the nerd and its kept her and her friends alive in the vampire-ruled town of Morganville, Texas. So smart and curious that it drives her to push limits and create new boundaries. Still, that doesn’t always make you friends, but Claire doesn’t let that stop her. I seriously love her for her ability to think on her feet and get past anybody in her way.

The Angel Tablet; One of the best books you’ve ever read.

Hands down, Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klaus is my absolute favorite. That’ll never change. A coming of age story with love, growth, loss, and werewolves. Truly phenomenal.

The Demon Tablet: One of the worst book you’ve ever read.

Winchester Family Business

Textrovert was wretched. Absolutely wretched. I had read the original on Wattpad and pre-ordered it when I heard it was getting published. I totally regret it because the book was horrible. The changes made turned the book onto a cheap cliché story that just left me utterly disappointed.

Shapeshifters: A book with a much better cover in a different country.

I really enjoy Danielle Vega’s books and I must say her international cover for The Haunted is both wicked and scary as hell! I love it!

Vampires: (Obvious, but let’s twist it.) A vampire you’d love to behead.

Hands down, I am snatching the machete from Dean and separating the head of James from the Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires from his body. Not a second thought. A total monstrosity and he made me rage so hard as he snuck into Patricia’s life and caused it to explode. Still, such a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!

Hunters: A character you would love to hunt.

We Heart It

Feels quite murder-y. LOL. But, sure. I love a challenge so I have to go with Fathom of Undertow by Michael Buckley. Rigid and like hitting a brick wall, I was just not a fan of his character. However, because he’s an all-powerful Alpha, I’d probably die attempting to kill him. LOL. He was just an all-over jerk that really twisted a knife into Lyric’s back after claiming tot love.

Rowena: Your favorite witch.

But I have so many!!! From Bonnie McCollough/Bennet to Sally Owens to Fiji. Alas, if I must pick one then I am currently enchanted by Diana Bishop of the All Souls Trilogy. Strong, passionate, and powerful. It’s no wonder Matthew fell in love with her so fast.

Chuck/Author/God: A book in which you guessed the plot twist.

Most recently it was Storm and Fury by JLA. I still loved and enjoyed the book, but I knew what was coming since page 1. Some twists are transparent and that’s okay, especially because I didn’t expect what came in the following book.

Castiel’s Trenchcoat: A book that looks so much better without its dustjacket.

Reaction Gifs

Okay, so I wasn’t a big enough fan of Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan to want to read the rest of the series, but the vivid red and “Let Them Fear Her” below the dustjacket is wicked. Just chilling and that ominous feeling.

Charlie: Your ultimate fangirl/fanboy moment.

Not entirely clear on if this is a fan-moment with books or just in general with Supernatural so I’m going both ways.

I’m still waiting with MASSIVE anticipation for the final book in The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole and am slowly losing my shit about it. On one hand, I’m not sure I’m ready to see how it ends, on the other, JUST GIVE THE BOOK!

A fangirl moment for me with Supernatural was when my mum and attend a Supernatural comic-con a few years back. It was such a blast and I even got a few phots with Misha Collins, the angel himself. I was such a nervous wreck and the line was moving so fast. One thought was for sure, I knew he was such a busy guy and there were a load of people to get through. He looks fantastic in the photos! I am looking mighty awkward and also realized when he hugged me that I am incredibly short. Need proof?

Told you. Nothing but awkward. Me, not the Angel. It was a delight that he put up with it for the 5 seconds.

Marry/Kiss/Push Off A Cliff.

Gaahhhh. Not my favorite type of question. Can’t I just marry them all? LOL. No? Fine.

Marry: Castiel. I’m feeling like life would never be boring.

Kiss: Dean. Why not? Definitely don’t mind parking with the handsome devil. Something tells me he’d steal my breath and I’d never stop blushing.

Over the cliff you go: Sorry Sam. Honestly, I don’t want to and I won’t, but I have to pick somebody. The way I figure it, you survived the push into Lucifer’s cage, you can handle this, moose.

Carry On My Wayward Son: Put you playlist on shuffle and play the first song. For which book is this song the perfect soundtrack?

Foolish Watcher

Landslide (Orchestra Version) – Stevie Nicks

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
‘Til the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m gettin’ older, too

Well, I’ve been ‘fraid of changin’
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m gettin’ older, too
I’m gettin’ older, too

Ah, take my love, take it down
Oh, climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
Oh, the landslide will bring it down

I still cry sometimes. I was listening to this at such a sad part in We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach.

I won’t be tagging anybody in this because I want everyone who loves to take it for a spin.

More to come soon…
