For years, the number 13 has been looked upon as unlucky and superstitious. Personally, it’s my favorite number and I’ve had nothing but luck with it. Though…I don’t have a lot of luck to begin with and I’m a major klutz, so…moving on!

There are many ways people avoid this number. Here are some fun and shivery factoids!

Many buildings will avoid having 13 floors. Hotels will skip right over the 13^th floor. There’s not a row 13 on any plane either.

At least 10% of the U.S. pop. is afraid of the number 13, the phobia known as triskaidekaphobia.
There are even connections back to The Last Supper, as Judas was the 13^th guest to arrive at the supper and is the one who betrays Jesus.
In Norse mythology, 13 comes into play when treachery arrives in the form of Loki at a dinner party in Valhalla, the resting place for soldiers after the ultimate battle, as the 13^th guest.
To get witchy for a moment, a traditional coven usually has only 13 members.

And for those of you with those long names, if you have 13 letters in yours then you’re considered cursed in some cultures. Look at Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer for example.

This book didn’t scare me until the end. Serious heebie-jeebies with how it flipped my mind upside down. Many people are scared about how it relates to our present time and that’s even scarier.

Still a big favorite of mine. Really lit the way for psychic characters. In this one, L.J. Smith gives powers to psychics that’s dark and unimaginable.

I actually just completed this little series and I really enjoyed it. With magic came the spoils. A lot of spoils. And a lot of drama over boys. This is proof that magic can come with riches and attitude.

We All Looked Up – Tommy Wallach

We All Looked Up

End of the world. Question life. Leave no regrets. This was eye-opening. I cried. Actually, there’s this part in the book and whenever I hear ‘Landslide’, the orchestral version, by Stevie Nicks, I think of it and cry. So beautiful. Really rips open my heart, as these kids set out to do the things they wished they’d down sooner.

The Stand – Stephen King

Apocalypse. The great fight between good and evil. Though a long read, I really got sucked into this and how it tied into magic and religion. Really intense and sometimes even scary when certain subjects were approached.

A book you can’t live without, like a lucky charm.

Blood and Chocolate – Annette Curtis Klause

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it way too many times. I read this book every year. Even had to buy a new copy when my old one died. I LOVE this book. It sleep in the cubby next to my bed. I can’t live without this book. It encompasses so much-love, family, growing-up, trust, and more. Sweet moon.

Lightning – Dean R. Koontz

Lightning

Not only a beautiful cover, but a beautiful story. A man goes back in time to save the woman he loves over and over, not stopping until he can get it right. How does lightning work into this? Every strike signals his arrival. Mystifying and really sweeped me off my feet.
