Hello, bookworms!
It’s the midnight hour and this is the Midnight Tease. Yes, midnight, because who needs sleep. Sleep is for punks. And, yes, I’m a punk because I LOVE sleep. Anywho, this is where I tell you what’s going on and what’s coming up on my reading and reviewing list.
But first…
It’s September! Fall already! Holy cow! You know what that means? Halloween is on the way! Yes, I’m one of those nuts. I even put up a Halloween tree. This month I’m very excited to go see The Nun. It looks pretty damn scary and I love horror!
As for the daily, every day, kind of living, I wish it was more exciting. Doing double work duty at the bookstore and my other job and coming home to write is about the gist of it. However, I did have a few trips that came up in August. I visited my college Alma Mater to see some friends I haven’t seen in a couple years. It was so good to get away. I believe everybody needs a mini-vacation, especially if you’re feeling like you can’t fit one in or keep telling yourself eventually. Just do it because when you’re telling yourself those things then you definitely need one.
I also got to attend a concert this summer. 3 Door Down, and it was incredible. Great music. I even got to hear my favorite song by them. It really was a great time. Felt good to get out of the house.
I still have a few books from my summer list to get to and can’t wait. I also have a few from last month that I was hoping to catch up to.
Coming Soon…
Nightlight
Author: The Harvard Lampoon
Every once in a while, you need a good parody, and this one is about Twilight! Not going to lie, I’m excited. Twilight is good, but let’s have a laugh.
Double Eclipse
Author: Melissa De La Cruz
I’ve been waiting oh-so impatiently to get this sequel and *SQUEEEE* I have it! The Witches of East End was pretty good. It was different, too with how they descend from Norse mythology. I really enjoyed Triple Moon, which you can find the review-here.
Shooting Scars & Bold Tricks
Author: Karina Halle
This is another one for which are sequels I’ve been waiting on. The first book, Sins & Needles, which you can find the review-here, was intense, fast and unrelenting. With it’s share of smut and danger, there’s something so rough and raw about it.
The Hatchling
Author: Ezekiel Boone
So…spiders and me don’t get along. Nope! We have a never=ending war. But, since i have an affinity for creepy and scary things, this is perfect.
Ender’s Game
Author: Orson Scott Card
This is a Sci-Fi that’s been on my radar for a loooong time. It’s been hailed with praise and wonder and I am so excited to have found a copy. This also allows me to broaden my horizons a bit. I love YA, but it’s good to branch out.
Currently…
Over the Moon
Author: Angela Knight, MaryJanice Davidson, Virginia Kantra and Sunny
Devoured
Author: Amanda Marrone
Up for Review…
Down a Dark Hall
Author: Lois Duncan
Ready Player One
Author: Ernest Cline
Of Mice and Men
Author: John Steinbeck
So, there’s an interesting slew coming this month. Classics, Sci-Fi, and sequels that I can finally get to-oh my!
I also want to take the time to say thank you for all of you that take an interest in The Scarlet Reader. I know I’m off the page and my geekery for books (among many things) is ridiculous, but I love being able to share my enjoyment of them with you. It’s truly a pleasure to share it in this way on a blog and with many others who also share this passion. I also love being able to garner folks’ interest into something new. So while spastic and sometimes a little crazy, I thank you.
More to Come Soon…
-K.
